Is Overwatch coming to Switch? A new case suggests maybe

Switch Online Services

An Amazon listing for an official Overwatch-themed Nintendo Switch case appeared, and promptly disappeared, yesterday. This led to rumors that the popular multiplayer shooter may be jumping to the portable console sometime soon. And although this has not been confirmed, a lot of gamers are rather excited about the leak and its implied announcement.

The listing was spotted by popular dataminer and leaker Wario64, who has built a rather solid reputation for finding these kinds of things online. He spotted a number of leaks before, and absolutely has perfected breaking these kinds of finds. According to his latest discovery Nintendo and Blizzard might be teaming up to produce a version of Overwatch for the Nintendo Switch console. This is supported by a branded case found on Amazon by Wario64, being made and sold by Accessories company PowerA.

PowerA makes a wide array of console and PC gaming accessories, from controllers to cases and everything in between. PowerA has previously produced officially licensed Switch cases for The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Odyssey, and Spyro the Dragon too, so it seems like solid evidence for such a release on the platform.

And with other titles like Splatoon 2 and Smash Ultimate fueling a lot of eSports and competitive interest for the Switch, it seems like a natural progression to push for another AAA title to build that branding around the platform.

Further speculation has been fueled by the past precedent of Blizzard and Nintendo working together on a Switch port of Diablo III. That was a rather well done effort as well, pleasing both new players and long-time fans with the breadth of the experience and its polish. And with the release of the Switch Lite next month, things are only looking up for the Big N.
