New RAGE 2 Gameplay Trailer At E3 2018

Rage 2

Rage 2 kicked off Bethesda’s E3 2018 showcase, and it brought the noise. Thanks in part due to live music from Andrew W.K.. The gameplay trailer shown at the event was all about amping up the action and hype, and it certainly accomplished that.

Take a look at the new gameplay below.

As for what’s in the gameplay snippet, it’s a chaotic mess, but in a good way. We gamers get to see car chases and other frenetic activities, all while hunting down a group of bandits. The combat looks visceral and fast-paced to say the least, as we get to see the player dashing between enemies and eliminating each one brutally.

Although despite rumors to the contrary, Rage 2 will be a strictly singeplayer experience, as the devs are working to craft an engaging and unique game. So no return of co-op or vehicular multiplayer mayhem like in the first game.

“We’re just focused on the best open world single player game that we can make,” Rage 2 designer Magnus Nedfors told Eurogamer at a pre-E3 event in Avalanche’s Stockholm studio. “I personally really believe you can make single player games really fantastic, so that’s what we’re focused on.”

And the team isn’t skimping on making the game look pretty to achieve these goals either. Avalanche is using a custom-built version of their Apex engine to push the game to peak performance. The game will allegedly be running at 60 FPS on consoles, and of course the same is true on PC.

RAGE 2 is in development and scheduled for release in Spring 2019.
