The new DLC in ACNH is quite the crowd-pleaser. Players are being asked to decorate vacation homes for various villagers on a separate island. You even get to setup infrastructure like schools for them to attend. You’ve gone beyond mayor, into a full city planner. There are many tools you get to do your job with. The soundscapes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are one of the many new features.
To get this new feature, and unlock all 24 of the soundscapes in ACNH, you need to design and complete a bunch of homes. After you have designed around 15 or so, Lottie will give you a notice about wanting to see you. Lottie will tell you when you walk into the island’s office that Wardell was looking for you. Head to the beaches and you will find Wardell lounging on a log.
How to add soundscapes to homes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
To use soundscapes, press down on the D-Pad to access the design menu. Then, press left on the D-pad to trigger room options. Finally, use the L and R buttons to pick the new soundscapes button. From there, you can choose from the sounds you have unlocked.
From there, just decorate homes and you will get more of them. As you finish more projects, more soundscape options should be added. You have beach themes, spooky ones, and so much more. When you apply a soundscape to a room, it will now play that tune as ambient sound on top of other sounds in the room. You can possibly layer them in with existing music. Or, you can use the sounds on their own if you need a subtler vibe.
And yes, you can use it back on your main island as well.
Can you get them any other way?
The soundscapes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are locked to the DLC. This means that those who don’t spend the $25 on the DLC don’t get them. Also, there’s no other way to unlock soundscapes than decorating enough homes.
