How to get the Hawkmoon Catalyst in Destiny 2

How to get the Hawkmoon Catalyst in Destiny 2

Like many Catalysts in Destiny 2, there’s some real power to be unlocked. And with the Hawkmoon Catalyst, you can get to dizzying new heights of power. The Hawkmoon Catalyst is a powerful upgrade for the Handcannon that adds a ton of stopping power, and is very sought after by players.

You can not only get more DPS out of the upgraded version, but you also increase the magazine size as well. The upgrade will improve handling, reload speed and range too. You get so many boosts from this one upgrade that it’s almost impossible not to use it in any build. The biggest change is that Paracausal Charge stacks generate to a higher degree, further increasing the utility of the upgraded weapon.

How to get the Hawkmoon Catalyst in Destiny 2

To get the weapon upgrade, you need to head over to the Tangled Shore and talk to Crow. You’re probably spending a lot of time with him this season, so why not pop over and say hello. Check-in with what tasks he has, and you will notice that he has a new Exotic quest for you. You will need to complete this questline to unlock the Hawkmoon upgrade.

You will need to head out into the EDZ and make your way from Trostland to the church ruins nearby. You’re looking for the golden bird perched on the second floor of a ruined building. This is part of the Harbinger questline, and the game will essentially guide you right to it. When you find the broken down building, look for the fireplace to the left side of the upper floor room. Shoot the protrusion with the regular Hawkmoon.

Once you have shot the fireplace, a hole will open in the wall. Crawl inside and you should get a trigger for a new mission that will lead you deeper into the facility. You’re going to want to bring in some friends if you can, as this mission is meant for full Fireteam with a power level around 1280, so it won’t be easy.

The mission will lead you back to areas you may recognize from earlier in the expansion, as there’s a dam you once visited while working for Crow. To complete this area, you need plenty of weapon variety, especially with a good mix of elemental DPS. There are three separate mini-bosses that require you to break their shields to beat them, and each one takes only a certain kind of damage. You will have to deal with both Void-shielded enemies as Taken Captains, among other threats, bring out the best perks you can muster for this one. A ranged weapon is pretty important for some bosses, as they fly around the arena, so melee-focused builds might have problems.

When the mission is finally complete, you will get the Hawkmoon Catalyst.
