December is a month to remember for POE fans. Grinding Gear Games has announced three different in-game events that will run during the month, leading up to the announcement of the next expansion. Path of Exile 3.13 is also just the tip of the iceberg. The developers have also announced a ton of new in-game events running throughout December.
Private leagues and certain other features will not be enabled during the events to prevent server issues and cheating. Also, the Delve and Mayhem events will be voided, whereas the Flashback event listed below will not be. This means that items earned during the Flashback will be moved over to Standard when the event ends. Here are the details of the three new events headed to Wraeclast in December 2020.
December 4 – One-Week Mayhem
- Starting at Noon December 4 (PST) which is Dec 04, 2020 3:00 PM (EST)
- Ending at 10am December 11 (PST) which is Dec 11, 2020 1:00 PM (EST)
During this event, it’s all about the chaos of having a torrent of powerful enemies trying to overwhelm you. Maps will be getting amped up with a mix of Path of Exile league modifiers from Anarchy, Invasion, Breach, Ambush, Torment and Harbinger that makes the mob density much higher. And I do mean higher, here’s the example from GGG: 20 Rogue Exiles, 20 Strongboxes, 20 Invasion Bosses, 10 Breaches, 20 Tormented Spirits or 20 Harbingers.
Tons of prizes will also be given out for players that get to a certain level in the Mayhem event. It’s a mix of unique items, loot boxes and hundreds of themed cosmetics being given out for players who hit certain level milestones.
The best players get a unique item. The top five of each Ascendancy Class in each of the four versions of the event ( Standard, Standard SSF, Hardcore, Hardcore SSF) will be awarded a brand new Demigod’s Authority. Each Demigod’s Authority will display your event class rank.
Anyone who gets to level 50 during the event will get a guaranteed loot box on their account. There will also be thousands of players who get entered into random draws for various rare cosmetic items. Check the image below for all the details.
December 4 – One-Week Mayhem Rewards
December 11 – One-Week Endless Delve
- Starting at Noon December 11 (PST) which is Dec 11, 2020 3:00 PM (EST)
- Ending at 10am December 18 (PST) which is Dec 18, 2020 1:00 PM (EST)
During this event, play will be exclusive to the Azurite Mines and their endless depths. The Delve expansion is a huge source of postgame grinding, even months after its release, and now GGG has made it a core part of the gameplay experience. Now everyone gets to try to be the hardcore Delvers who push into record depths with insanely tough enemies.
All the normal leveling mechanics will be unlocked at various leveling milestones, including the Ascendancies. Players will not have access to their normal Hideout, instead they have to use a modified Mine Encampment with the Delve mechanics, a Stash, and the Ascendancy Altar, among a few other necessary bits. Skill Gem trades will also be there.

This is the big one, where all the crazy modifiers are active. While not turned up to the insane spawn density of Mayhem, the volume of active league mechanics in maps is incredibly high. Alongside Heist, each area in Wraeclast will have a random selection of three of the following mods present. These mods will change every hour, on the hour.
- 2 Additional Rogue Exiles
- 2 Additional Invasion Bosses
- 1 Additional Breach
- 2 Additional Strongboxes
- 3 Additional Tormented Spirits
- 2 Additional Perandus Chests and a 33% chance to spawn Cadiro
- 3 Additional Rare Monster Packs with Nemesis Mods
- 3 Additional Magic Monster Packs with Bloodlines
- 1 Additional Abyss
- 2 Additional Harbingers
- 1 Timeless Monolith
- 1 Metamorph
- 1 Delirium Mirror

Path of Exile 3.13 Release Date
The PC and console launch dates for the new POE 3.13 expansion were also revealed in this deluge of news. Path of Exile 3.13 will be announced on January 8th, with the PC launch following on January 15th. After that comes out, the console launch on PS4 and Xbox One will come out on January 22nd.
