New Ace Combat 7 trailers are a wonder to behold

Ace Combat 7 E3 2018 Gameplay

Brand new trailers for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown have been released this week at the close of E3 2018. These new trailers not only have plenty of fast action and plenty of love for high-octane jets, but there’s a healthy dose of story in there too.

We see that the protagonist of this game is a conscripted member of a penal military unit. This means that the protagonist and their comrades chose military service as a punishment for their crimes. The members of this penal unit have distinctive tail markings called “sin lines”. Our not-so-heroic player character has three of these, meaning they might have committed some pretty heinous crimes. Although this perception will probably get muddier over the course of the game.

We also get to see more planes (starting with the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, and the Dassault Rafale M), more weather effects, and more dogfighting. And man do these planes and effects look great. Lightning effects. visible water droplets and icing and so many more instances of cool details have been seen for the game so far.

The game also features a new system for advanced maneuvers that makes dogfighting much more visceral and strategic. The game even has support for PSVR. There’s a trailer for that feature down below.

There is no release date confirmed for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown yet, but one should be announced soon. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is due on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out the gameplay footage and trailers for the game below.
