How to Check Your Hours Played on Nintendo Switch

New OLED Switch Confirmed

Getting to see how many hours you’ve wasted with gaming can be a big deal. Some folks might be a bit shocked to see how much time they’ve burned. But if you’re curious, the Switch even has that option as well. The console can suck away many hours, and I can personally attest to losing a substantial amount of time on ACNH and Diablo. Here’s how to see your hours played on Nintendo Switch.

You won’t be able to see all of your games. And if you’ve only played them for less than an hour, they might not show up. Up to 20 recently played titles will be listed here. Here’s where to look to find your hours played on Nintendo Switch.

How to Check Your Hours Played on Nintendo Switch

You have two ways to figure out what games you’ve played most. The easiest and least thorough one is just to sort your games by time played. Open the Home Screen and scroll to the right until you see the All Software button. Pressing this will list all your games installed or previously played on your console. Press the R button to bring up the sort menu, sort it by Total Play Time to see what games you’ve played the most. Again, only the 20 most recently played games are listed here.

But if you want a more thorough accounting of your playtime, there’s a way to do this as well. You need to use the Profile page to check this. It can be kind of hard to find this for new users, so follow the steps below.

  1. From the Switch’s main menu, select your profile picture in the top left corner. Use the sticks to get here. You will see the profile icon highlighted blue when you select it.
  2. This page will open on the Profile tab. Use a joystick to scroll right.
  3. Scroll down the list to see all the games you’ve played and the number of hours put into them.

You can change your profile privacy settings to prevent your friends from seeing this info. Go to the Profile menu again, and scroll down the left-hand menu to User Settings. Next, click on Play Activity Settings. This will open the options you have. If you only want those you have marked as Best Friends via the Switch to see your activity, set the option to Best Friends. You can also turn off this information entirely by selecting No One.

You can also change your online settings by changing the Display Online Status option under Friend Settings to the different options. This option has the same settings as game time data, so keep those in mind.
