Axiom Verge 2 revealed for Nintendo Switch, out 2020

Axiom Verge 2

Axiom Verge 2, a new game from developer Thomas Happ has been revealed. The game was announced during the Indie World Showcase via Nintendo this week. The 2D sequel establishes the Metroidvania franchise with a new dose of sci-fi flair. The original game from 2015 found a fair bit of success, before being ported to the Nintendo Switch in 2017.

The original game built a solid core around tactical action and careful exploration, encouraging the player to find many hidden secrets. Axiom Verge 2 will once again allow for non-linear exploration of the map, but with some new gameplay mechanics. Players will be able to use a new remote-controlled drone to aid in said exploration. The game will feature new levels and an improved art style that adds new visual elements. Players can also expect a more engaging story.

As the player takes on their exploration of the ruined land of Sudra, they will find some new roadblocks in their path in the sequel. Even experiences fans may be surprised by the new characters, new abilities, new enemies and more. Players will have a new tool in their arsenal though, thanks to that shiny new drone. Puzzles, enemies and more can be hacked via this method. This will allow players to bypass or utilize threats in unique ways to solve problems.

Check it out in the new trailer below.

Axiom Verge 2 could be coming to all major consoles in 2020. Although right now only the Switch release has been confirmed. The sequel is aiming for a Fall 2020 release, although this too could be subject to change.
