Resident Evil Village is about to explode onto the gaming scene this year. The tall vampire lady is coming to haunt Ethan this May, when the game releases. If you’re a PC gamer and want to get in on the fun, you might want to know if you need an upgrade.
The game is a DirectX12 title, so that means Windows 10 is very much a necessity. The baseline experience of the game is estimated by Capcom to be aimed at 60 FPS at 1080p. So any modern machine should have no trouble at least running the game. The likes of a 1050 Ti, a very basic Nvidia GPU, can at least run the game. Expect to have to turn down some visual effects, shadows and anti-aliasing though.
The raytracing requirements are much harsher, as the raytracing systems of the game are designed to be a huge visual improvement. The look of these games has certainly improved over the years, especially compared to the mess of pre-rendered 2D backgrounds of the PS1 era. The game at its graphical best is a monster to run, requiring the latest of either AMD or Nvidia GPUs. And since the likes of a 30-series GPU are impossible to get right now, most folks will likely opt to run with raytracing turned off for this reason. Raytracing modes will allow for 60 FPS gameplay at up to 4K resolution, with some stunning lighting effects.
