Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood patch notes have been released

Tomorrow morning, Final Fantasy XIV players will be able to start moving through Stormblood, exploring new areas, leveling the new jobs, clearing new quests, and so forth. As a result, the enormous patch notes for the expansion are now here, and reading through all of them will take a while. Even when you include the fact that the simply massive number of new items added into the game means that you won’t be sitting through that list.

Stormblood is adding the new class start quests for the Samurai and Red Mage jobs to the city of Ul’dah. So if you’re logged out there, you get a head start. As usual, players must progress through previous story missions to access the new 4.0 content, so get grinding folks. A lot of big changes are coming to FF 14, far too many to summarize here, so check out the patch notes. Big class skill changes and the removal of attribute points have simplified the jobs system in the game overall. So if you’ve been scared about Final Fantasy XIV being too difficult, it just got easier than ever to get into.

Here are the details of the start quest itself for Stormblood:

Disciple of War or Magic level 60
The Rising Stones (X:6.0 Y:5.9)
Alphinaud
Players must first complete the main scenario quest “The Far Edge of Fate.”

4.0 brings massive changes to the in-game world with the edition of new field areas, as well a revamp of the Aetheryte system and Tomestones. Now, all Tomestones can be exchanged for a single general purpose one.

New job quests have also been added for the various other disciplines in the game, here’s a rundown.
