We’re back once again here at ISKMogul with yet another Warframe guide. For you new folks in the back, Warframe is a free-to-play shooter made by the Canadian studio, Digital Extremes. The game has earned a pretty good reputation over the years for delivering a truckload of fun and engaging content across a variety of expansions.
Plenty of Warframe players have some issues figuring out these complex mechanics. The common questions of “How do I unlock this Warframe?” and “Where do I find this item?” are very common questions in the community. So following our guides on farming and building Warframes like Ivara, Mesa, Vauban and others, here’s a new how to get a Warframe guide. That way players know exactly what to do.
Now we’re going to run through Hydroid, one of the more interesting entries in the roster.
This pirate-themed Warframe is “a deadly marauder from the deep,” bringing his own extreme abilities to the fray. Hydroid’s offensive choices include a cannon-like ability that allows him to unleash a Tempest Barrage that knocks down enemies in an AoE. Tidal Surge offers a more focused version of this attack as well. Undertow also allows Hydroid players to keep enemies pinned and slowly drowning them. Tentacle Swarm also offers a decidedly creepy and Lovecraftian feel to the battle. He’s a pure DPS and control-oriented frame, great in a group.

The first step is farming the Blueprints. Hydroid’s component blueprints are acquired from Councilor Vay Hek (Oro, Earth). The mission requires Mastery Rank 5 to enter. you will have to farm him a few times to get the BP drops, for most players you’re looking at 6-8 runs to get all of the part Blueprints.
Councilor Vay Hek Tips
- In Phase 1, he is immune until he removes his mask. When he does become vulnerable, the big spike on his back starts glowing. You can either shoot the glowing part on his back or aim for his face. With enough damage, he will replace his mask. Wait for him to remove his mask again to repeat the phase. Repeat this process three times in total to complete the first phase.
- Phase 2 is very similar to Phase 1, although his attacks are faster. Once you’ve repeated the phases again, Vay Hek will summon a Terra Frame armor suit to begin phase 3.
- Phase 3 is just a bigger target. Keep Vay Hek at range and apply all of the DPS to take him down.
First, let’s talk about the basic resources you will need to build Hydroid. here’s the resources you will need, with the best missions to focus on to gain large amounts of them.
- Alloy Plate: Venus, Sedna, Jupiter, Ceres, Pluto and Phobos
- Rubedo: Earth, Europa, Phobos, Sedna, Pluto and Orokin Void
- Polymer Bundle: Venus, Mercury and Uranus
- Nano Spores: Saturn, Neptune, Eris, and Orokin Derelict.
Then there’s the rare drops. This is the point where most new players will stumble. Argon Crystals are a rare resource that drops in the Orokin Void tileset and from certain Assassination targets. Unlike other resources, Argon Crystals decay after a period of time. After this period the resources will disappear from the user’s inventory. You should focus on farming these last once you have all other components.
- Control Module: Void Missions are a good source for this, as are higher level missions on Europa and Neptune
- Gallium: Defeat Lech Kril (Mars, War) or Tyl Regor (Uranus, Titania) It can drop rarely on Mars and Uranus.
- Orokin Cell: Defeat Lech Kril (Mars, War) or General Sargas Ruk (Saturn) for the best drop chance. Also found on Saturn, Ceres and Orokin Derelict.
To assemble Hydroid, you will need the following resources for each part, and some extras for final assembly:

Once you have all the Blueprints, head to the Foundry and start build. Although remember, it’s going to take time. Hydroid is a fun frame to play with, so if you really want it, use your Plat to rush the construction if you can spare it. Also, check to make sure you have an open slot before beginning the build.
