Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok leaks debunked, not even close to accurate

Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok

Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok, as the next title in the iconic franchise was teased, isn’t apparently happening. At least not in the way many have been led to believe. The leaks we originally reported about were not true, according to new information. According to one source, the new game isn’t about Vikings. It isn’t even called Ragnarok. Seems like the Amazon posting was just a goof.

Many credit Kotaku reporter Jason Schreier with starting the spread of these rumors, allegedly coming from various anonymous sources. “A few months before this teaser emerged, Kotaku learned from two independent sources familiar with the game that 2020’s Assassin’s Creed, code-named Kingdom, does indeed star Vikings,” said Schreier in his report back in April. “We don’t know much else about the game.”

And with this new game being the the follow up to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey,  a lot of people wanted these rumors to be true. According to another insider though, these rumors aren’t even close to accurate. There’s been some things that the rumors got right, but they’re mostly off-base. Posting under the name of ZhugeEX on Resetera, Analyst Daniel Ahmad has debunked most of these supposed leaks. In broad strokes, he admits that sources tell him some things were right. For example, they didn’t even get the title right.

“For what it’s worth. All of the new AC leaks so far have been incorrect. It’s not even called Ragnarok. Sure. Some of the details are right. Like improved combat or whatever. But in general they’re not that accurate.”

So it’s entirely possible that this new game could be entirely different from what we’ve seen and heard so far. It’s a possibility that the Kingdom moniker has been used as a codename at some point. It’s also possible that the game could focus on it’s own historical take on the legendary Vikings, but this remains unconfirmed. And of course, no release dates or anything like that have been confirmed either.
