There are a bunch of different useful items and resources in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. As you journey around you will notice that there are also a bunch of hidden secrets and puzzles to solve. Knowing where to find these secrets and how to get them is key to getting all of the character upgrades in the game. One such upgrade is Cat’s Footfall in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which will allow you to progress the story and unlock further upgrades. You will also need to use this item along with Mountain’s Root in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to complete a specific quest.
As you get through the story eventually you will visit Asgard. There you will be given a variety of quests to undertake for a very interesting cast of characters. One of these mythical figures is Ivaldi the dwarf. Eivor asks Ivaldi to make an unbreakable chain for their own use. Players will be given the task to find Cat’s Footfall and Mountain’s Root in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla so that the smith can make the item.
After you have chased down the Cat’s Footfall and landed in the haystack, get moving to the south-western corner of the map. The quest marker for finding the second item will guide you. You will end up near the base of a mountain, but you need to journey forth and find the exact item’s location on your own.
The best way to do this is to just climb the mountain until you get to the Leap of Faith on the peak. Claim it and synchronize the area, and when you leap down, you will find a haystack at the bottom. The Mountain’s Root isn’t at the bottom, but you’ll find it soon. First, you need to burn the rock. Take out your torch and light the golden rock aflame by tossing down the lit torch. When the fire burns itself out you can grab the rock. You will then need to carry the rock over to the nearby cliff edge and throw the rock off. You can then perform a second leap of faith into the river below.
At the edge of the lake, you will see a rock nearby to some brush. That branch is what you’re after. Grab the white branch and move on. Return back to Ivaldi with the Mountain’s Root and Cat’s Footfall to complete the task and get your item.
