When does Assassin’s Creed Valhalla release?

After Ubisoft shot down earlier leaks of a new Assassin’s Creed title called Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok, fans of the iconic franchise were eager to hear what was actually going on with Ubisoft. Now, it appears that those initial leaks were at least based on some truthful elements. The new entry in the Assassin’s Creed saga will be Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is taking the franchise to the early Middle Ages, a time of Norse raiders and chaos. Players will take on a new challenge with a new cast that tells a new story with an unexplored element of history. And if the previous games are any indication, expect it to be somewhat of an open-world game with missions structured around exploring historical events, blended with a ton of bloody action.

Ubisoft has released various details about the game, including teases for the release date for the game, as well as other elements of the release. Check out the new trailer for the game down below.

The release date for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla hasn’t been nailed down, as the game is still in the works, but Ubisoft has a window in place. The publisher says that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will debut during holiday season of 2020.

For gameplay elements, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will bring back some older elements from the previous games and blend them with modern conventions. There’s a return to the settlement management from Assassin’s Creed 2. The main character will now be in charge of the development and politics of their own settlement. And of course, there’s plenty of adventure and murder fans know well.

There will be four editions of the game on launch, each with various digital and physical bonuses. The publisher is also planning for a DLC season pass. And since it was a big part of previous games, expect some in-game microtransactions to return. Hopefully, they don’t screw that up. The four editions are the base version, Gold Edition, Ultimate Edition and Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition will be an exclusive purchase from the Ubisoft store.
