New Steam Deck client update and SteamOS 3.3 releases

Valve Releases Windows Drivers For Steam Deck

This week, a  new build of the Steam Deck client and SteamOS 3.3 releases, bringing with it a bunch of new features and fixes.

The biggest change is that Valve has formalized the update process. There will now be three different update branches to allow for users to have direct access to test builds. For those that just want the bug fixes, there’s a stable branch as well. This update involves the deployment of SteamOS 3.3 and an updated Steam Client to the Stable channel. Users can find the full patch notes below, as well as some recaps of the bigger changes and new features.

The client-side update will also roll out some fixes and changes to control schemes. Gyro and Button Chord users will find that the missing Deck buttons are now available in Steam Input. Also, there’s support for more languages with support for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean keyboards.

Convenience features are also built in. There’s a scheduled night mode feature, allowing players to choose if and when Night Mode turns on. When using the system’s special Docked Mode, there is now an option to scale the UI so that it fits on the variety of display resolutions users are likely to need.

SteamOS 3.3 on the other hand will offer some very specific changes and fixes for the platform. Bug fixes abound in this update. Crashes around specific app interactions are live, as are other more minor fixes. One common issue users are complaining about is WiFi connectivity, particularly when it comes to 5Ghz bands. controller firmware utilities have been updated to provide support for future control revisions and other changes.
