How to Evolve Porygon in Isle of Armor

Porygon returns in Pokémon Sword and Shield with the release of the new DLC. The iconic but strange Gen I Pokémon has some very interesting moves, and is one of the last things that you will likely unlock in the DLC. Surprise Trades or Wonder Trades may also work as a method for getting Porygon in Isle of Armor, but this guide won’t cover those.

As intended, there’s one primary way to get Porygon in Isle of Armor.

Where to find Porygon in Isle of Armor

After you have completed the tower of choice you will return to the dojo and speak with Mustard. This happens near the end of the story, so you better come with your best possible team. The Trainer battle the follows is the boss battle of the DLC, so it won’t be easy. This happens after you get your Gigantamax form for Urshifu by the way. Once you have defeated this Trainer, head back to the Dojo. This is something you will likely be doing anyway as you probably had some farming or upgrades to wrap up.

You will find Hyde in the room to the right-hand side of the Dojo. He will ask you if you want to take possession of Porygon. You can refuse if you want, but this is your best chance to get this scientific Pokémon. He will be sitting right next to the Cram-o-Matic.

But getting this strange Gen I Pokémon isn’t the end of your adventure. Of course, you want to evolve it don’t you? So then in comes the evolved forms of Porygon, Porygon2 and PorygonZ.

How to Evolve Porygon in Isle of Armor

You actually need two items before you can get started on this. After you find Porygon you need two different items. You need both the Upgrade item and Dubious Disc item. These two items are spread across the DLC so you will have to hunt them down.

You can find Upgrade in the Training Lowlands, it’s a simple item drop. Check the image below for where to find this component.

The other item you need to evolve Porygon in Isle of Armor is the Dubious Disc. This can be found on the smallest island at the far southern edge of the map. It’s the tan island peeking out of the black border in the map above. You can just barely see one part of it on the map. Head there and look for the disc on the beach.

Once you have both items, it’s time to begin. Now you need to initiate a trade. Once you have both items and trade with a friend. You need to put Upgrade on Porygon and trade it to get Porygon2. Then put Dubious disc on it to get PorygonZ.
