XL Candy in Pokémon Go is a big part of the new Beyond expansion to the mobile game. IT’s used to level up your Trainer level beyond the older cap of Level 40. Each level up to the new cap of 50 has a requirement to redeem a certain amount of XP Candy. So you don’t need to worry about how to get XL candy until you go past level 40. When you do get there though, it helps to know what to expect.

With that in mind, here’s a guide to everything related to XL Candy in Pokémon Go and how to get more of it when you need it. First though, let’s start with how to get it.

How do you get XL Candy?

XL Candy in Pokémon Go is earned in a few different ways. Pretty much just playing the game. You can earn the most of it by interacting with the new Pokémon Home system in the mobile game. Prof. Willow will also hand out some of it for completing their quests. And it stands to reason that the new PvP Leagues, which have been expanded to 24 ranks, will also hand out XL Candy and other rewards as well.

Tips for Farming XL Candy

Transfer Pokémon and Candy

Each type of Pokémon drops Candy of a certain kind, you can trade this in for XL Candy in Pokémon Go at a rate of 100:1. Go get out there and catch tons of Pokémon. The more candy you can farm, the faster you can trade it in. There are better ways to deal with this though, as there are faster methods of getting the new candy.

Play together

Farming it should be simple, especially if you’re active in the multiplayer scene. Trading with players and partaking in Raids, as well as other activities, can reward small batches of XL Candy. It’s all randomized chance though, so you won’t get it every time. For those who engage in five-star raids, you can get the highest chance of getting a few Candies, but the battles are much tougher and aimed at elite Trainers.

We can also expect the new Seasons Niantic has planned to feature limited quests that have a few rewards to help players ranking up. So keep logging in and checking that.

Catching and hatching work too

You will want to also aim to catch as many Legendary Pokémon as you can as well. The rare spawns can be a great source of items, including the rank up rewards. This is best done in groups, as the Raids that often run these spawns are pretty tough. If you have friends that play the game you can get together, safely of course, and start farming.

Hatching eggs is another good method, as leaks suggest that players can get up to 24 XL candy for 10-kilometer hatches. This means you want to hyper-focus on getting as many slots to hatch eggs as you can. The more Egg slots you have, the more 7KM and 10KM Eggs you can hatch. If you’re playing the game a lot, you can rack up several hatches per day.
