Power Up a Pokémon:

In Map View, tap the Main Menu Pokéball.
Tap Pokémon
Select a Pokémon to power up from your list of Pokémon
Tap Power Up

You will then need to spend Candy and Stardust to complete the process. There are two types of candy you’re going to make use of most often; Candy and Candy XL. Candy XL is on the higher-level monsters in your roster. At lower levels, you will mostly be using just a bundle of Candy and Stardust to level up one time. As you go up, the costs will increase, so be prepared.

The Candy and Stardust are something you need a constant supply of, and you can get it basically by just playing the game.
