Genshin Impact Elemental Reactions Guide

Genshin Impact Elemental Reactions Guide

All of the characters in Genshin Impact have an element associated with them, and doing the proper element in response to an enemy is key in combat. There are four main types of elements in the game, and all of them can be combined in different ways. Each one also has a basic effect associated with it, Usually, they can be used to apply buffs and debuffs to party members or enemies.

Each character also has their own unique element attached, so keep track of that. When attacking an enemy with the weakness to that element, say attacking a Cryo enemy with Pyro, you will deal more damage. However, they can be resistant to elements of attacks that match their own. So attacking an enemy with Cryo element when they possess a Cryo tag, will make them immune to damage.

The basic types are as follows:

There are also a few unique effects that can only be applied to the player or their party by enemies.

Elemental Reactions in Genshin Impact

The different combinations you can apply in this game will each have their own combinations and impact, based on the Elements used. Applying certain combinations of elemental effects will result in damage application and debuffs consistent with the types used. Basically if you hit the enemy with one element, followed by the proper second element, then you will combo into the next phase of the Elemental Reaction.

Some of the elements cancel each other out, so you have to be aware of that. Don’t try to use a Pyro and Hydro effect immediately following each other. Use the image below, put out by the community, to understand how to combine things together to make this system work.
