Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy – How to fix the 30 FPS lock

If you just jumped on to take a gander at Destiny 2: Season of the Worthy, you may have noticed some issues. One of the most commonly reported issues is that the game appears to be applying a framerate lock, regardless of individual user settings for V-Sync and the like. So if you haven’t enabled v-sync or turned off uncapped framerates, and are still seeing this framerate lock, there is a solution.

This kind of thing is really annoying to PC gamers who often want that 60 FPS goodness at a minimum for smooth gameplay. And that’s to say nothing of those gamers who wish to take full advantage of their high-end displays that are capable of 144Hz refresh rates or higher.

The solution for this issue is actually very simple, but it’s still rather annoying. It appears as though the in-game FPS lock is bugged, and randomly toggles off an on at boot, and despite it being off in some cases, it still applies the 30 FPS cap to gameplay. Here’s how to fix this thing.

Problem solved. That means you should no longer see any issues with the 30 FPS lock. There is one problem though, it seems as though the toggle will have a chance of being bugged on the next boot of Destiny 2. You may have to repeat the steps above when you restart the game again, just keep that in mind.

Destiny 2 is available on Steam. The Season of the Worthy DLC requires the season pass which can be purchased via the Eververse in-game shop.
