UK chain Tesco’s has been branching out into various services over the years. One new push for the chain is into the gaming space. Blinkbox offers a direct-to-user streaming app for all kinds of TV and films. This push joins the likes of the PS3 for the media app. Xbox One blinkbox will have various sorting and search features built into the console port. You can sort by New Releases, Most Popular and more.
The Xbox One blinkbox app will feature content exclusive to the Xbox One, offering gamers in the UK a new incentive for sapping their entrainment to the Xbox One. This falls right in line with the marketing push Microsoft has relied on for their new console. The new gaming platform is being billed as the one-stop place for all entertainment, not just gaming.
Along with all of this content streaming, the platform will also integrate with various Xbox One features, as it supports Xbox One Help for example.
The new app will host a variety of popular TV properties and movies. Blinkbox movies include 12 Years a Slave, The Wolf of Wall Street and Inside Llewyn Davis, while shows like Hannibal and Game of Thrones are also on the platform. It’s also a good bet that the offerings will expand over time, provided this new rollout is received well.
Speaking about the new app, the plan is to massively expand to new platforms as well. For one thing, there’s a new Chromecast port coming of the app as well.
blinkbox managing director Adrian Letts also said that the programming staff is working to produce more features and content, and is “working harder than Hugh Jackman’s personal trainer to give customers access to the very latest movies and TV shows on their favorite platforms and devices”
