Xbox Game Pass adds Undertale, Shadow of War, Dead Rising 4 and more

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate New Games for July 2019

So it’s that time of the month again where Microsoft joins the other gaming industry titans in announcing new games or new additions to their proprietary services. Up this round is Xbox Game Pass, which recently unveiled Xbox Game Pass Ultimate during E3 2019. Gamers can get instant access to more than 100 games on either Xbox One or PC, as well as Xbox Live Gold and its associated deals and discounts, for only $15 a month.

So let’s start with the highlights of the new additions coming to the service. You can find the full list of new games being added to Game Pass after the break.

July 4th Releases

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

This game is a bit controversial, or at least it was when it launched. The game had a very exploitative loot box system tied directly to its main gameplay loop of building an army and invading the fortresses belonging to the AI or other players. Warner Bros. and Monolith eventually removed these microtransactions entirely, opting to revamp the game. Now, the story-based sections of the game remain the big draw, and it’s still a decent play if you’re looking to burn some free time.

Undertale

An incredible little indie title that’s infamous for its deceptively difficult gameplay loops, and equally famous for crafting a wonderful story populated with beloved characters. The lovable characters and difficult gameplay have catapulted this otherwise unassuming title to mega-stardom with mountains of memes about rage and sadness-inducing moments.

July 11th Releases

Dead Rising 4

This sequel continued the trend of incredibly over-the-top zombie action that later games in the franchise took to 11 and beyond. The game still features iconic hordes of the undead, as well as plenty of bosses, otherwise known as psychopaths, but the focus has certainly shifted towards the absurd.
