World of Warcraft Classic servers announced, alongside new WoW expansion

Blizzard

After years of battling with World of Warcraft unofficial servers, meeting with Nostralius to discuss the possibility of vanilla servers, Blizzard has finally come up with the goods.

At BlizzCon today, Blizzard announced they are currently developing what they are calling World of Warcraft Classic. A classic server choice bringing back the classic WoW experience to players. According to Blizzard, it will take time to get these launched but it will happen.

Blizzard says they are “are committed to making a Blizzard-quality classic experience”. This is great news for players looking for that vanilla experience, and if they get it right, it will put out many of the unofficial servers currently running.

But new servers aren’t the only addition that World of Warcraft is getting in the near future. Blizzard have also announced a new expansion titled Battle for Azeroth.

In this expansion Blizzard is putting the struggle between the Horde and Alliance at the forefront of the story. In Battle for Azeroth, The Horde and Alliance go head to head while seeking new allies to take control of the islands. While there are no new classes, there are new race variations for the Horde and Alliance with the Void Elf, Lightforged Draenei, Nightborne, Dark Iron Dwarves, Zandalari Trolls and Highmountain Tauren.

The level cap is also being increased to 120. These new high-powered heroes will get to to duke it out over the resources on the islands of Kul Tiras the Troll island of Zandalar. And of course new dungeons and raids are being added for the PvE players out there.

An official site for the expansion is now live. Check out the trailers:
