Wolfenstein: Youngblood shows off in new launch trailer

Wolfenstein Youngblood Announced

MachineGames has just dropped the launch trailer for Wolfenstein: Youngblood, giving fans a recap of the story and gameplay style of this violent spinoff from the main franchise.

As we’ve seen before in the story trailer, the game follows the events of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, wherein a superpowered BJ takes on the Nazis throughout the USA, but somewhere along the way, he disappeared. The war against Fascism is still on, but now a new fight has begun, and a new pair of leading ladies have stepped in to fill the gap left by BJ’s absence.

The new spinoff for the shooter franchise is taking the fight directly to the enemy, and these are two femme fatales you don’t want to cross. As sisters Jess and Soph Blazkowicz hunt for their beloved father, things are about to get very messy indeed. The two sisters are going to cut a bloody path of destruction through the Nazi regime in order to find their dad, and you get to help them.

The gameplay in this title is also a pretty big departure from the linear shooter style of the mainline games. Wolfenstein: Youngblood has a much more fleshed-out progression system with plenty of choice and much more flexibility. Mission structure has also been heavily reworked, allowing players to tackle content in their preferred order rather than a set path.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood is one of two spinoff titles this generation for the venerable FPS franchise that spawned with Wolfenstein 3D. The other is a VR-exclusive Cyberpilot, where you play a resistance hacker working to bring the Nazi regime down in their own way.

The former of those two games is getting some pretty spiffy graphical options on PC, although ray tracing will have to wait until after launch in an update. And speaking of PC gamers, why not check out the system requirements for this new title and make sure your rig is up to snuff.

Wolfenstein Youngblood launches on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 26th.
