While you’re adventuring in Valheim, you will encounter various types of items and weapons to craft. Look out for the popups on your screen telling you what resources you’re looking at. You can get a ton of different resources for your crafting. You will need a few basic items, though, like Core Wood. Use this guide to figure out how to get Core Wood in Valheim.
Where to get Core Wood in Valheim
Core Wood in Valheim comes from Pine Trees. it can be easily harvested, you just have to find it. Look Meadows or Green forest biomes to find plenty of this. Be careful chopping trees down, as they can fall on you. Hit the base tree with an axe to make multiple logs fall out. Chop it away from you so the logs fall on the opposite side of the tree you’re standing on. You can then split the log into two pieces, and claim Core Wood from the resulting logs.
You can use a few different tools to gather Core Wood in Valheim. There are a few starter tools that are fine for this. The Stone Axe requires 5 Wood and 4 Stone, and is the first main tool you will use for the basic part of the game. You can upgrade to something like Flint or Bronze tools later on. The Flint Axe requires 4 Wood and 6 Flint.
You can now use the Core Wood in various recipes like the Finewood Bow, Stagbreaker and more. These are rather powerful weapons that can take on the toughest bosses in the game with ease.
Once you’re done with that, you could go grab some other material like birch to make more advanced tools. You will also want to upgrade your workbench to be able to unlock the new recipes you need to progress. Be sure to drop a Portal nearby your home if there isn’t one, this will make crafting much simpler.
