Where to find Netherite in Minecraft

How to update Minecraft to 1.16 The Nether Update

Minecraft added a ton of different pieces of content over the years. The recent addition of full biomes into the Nether is a huge change to the base game. There are plenty of new mobs to fight, and some new mechanics that will bring new speedrunning tech to the game. It’s all really cool. With all of the new items, there is of course new crafting to be done as well. One of the key items is Netherite in Minecraft, which can be used to make a bunch of great gear.

How to craft Netherite in Minecraft

To make the Netherite, you need to gather a few key ingredients. The process is very simple, once you know where to look. This is a two-step process that you need to complete to get the Netherite to make the new recipes.

You first need to find Ancient Debris and then smelt that into Nether Scraps. The debris can be found in certain Nether Biomes, like the Bastion Remnants. You will want to dig between Y levels of 8 and 22 with a Diamond Pickaxe.

Here are the areas to look where it spawns most commonly:

  • Crimson Forest
  • Nether Wastes
  • Soul Sand Valley
  • Warped Fores

Once you have that you need to combine 4 Nether Scraps and 4 Gold Ingots to create a bundle of Netherite. You will need to smelt the Ancient Debris before it can be used. When smelted in a Blast Furnace, it will yield Netherite Scrap. Netherite Scrap can then be combined with Gold to create a Netherite Ingot.

There are a few different things you can do in the game with the Ingots. You can upgrade Diamond gear into a new tier, Netherite.  You can also repair Netherite items using Netherite Ingots by taking the item to be repaired along with some Ingots. That will give you a full durability boost. These items are the best in the vanilla game, even beyond durability and toughness compared to Diamond. Another cool thing is that the new tier offers a reduction to knockback effects when you get hit.

You can then use that Netherit Ingot to make the following pieces of Minecraft gear:

  • Sword
  • Axe
  • Pickaxe
  • Hoe
  • Shovel
  • Helmet
  • Chestplate
  • Leggings
  • Boots
