Where is the Kenshi Save Location

Kenshi

When you move your Steam drive to a new location, you can often lose your save games. Windows in particular has a nasty habit of having save games and other files stored in various places. There are any number of places you can find the save and mod files for PC games. And with some games, it’s a really hassle to lose a save that has hundreds of hours on it. With games like Kenshi, it’s rather debilitating. Losing that carefully crafted base and army is a huge problem for long-time players. So let’s get your saves backed up when you have the chance. But first, you need to know where to look to find the Kenshi save location

The current Kenshi save location for the Steam version of the game is as follows:

“C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Kenshi\save”

Keep this in mind for when you move the game to a new system. The game will not transfer your saves unless you do it manually.

Also, another note about mod order. When you verify the game files, which Steam does automatically when detecting already installed games, the mod.cfg file is overwritten. So if you don’t want to have to redo your mod load order, check the location below on your old install for the mods.cfg file. This contains your active mods, and their load order. Copy that over to the same location on your new Kenshi install location, overwriting the old one. That way, you won’t have to waste time redoing your mod configs.

“[Steam Drive]\steamapps\common\Kenshi\data\mods.cfg”
