The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 is almost here. In less than 24 hours folks will be descending on Night City to let loose with their thirst for freedom and chaos in a technohell landscape. The game already has a ton of missions, bounties and other content to sink your teeth into, but there’s more on the horizon. The game will apparently be getting new content as time goes on. The same thing happened with the Witcher 3 and it’s likely going to be of a similar kind. So that means folks should expect new missions, weapons and more to be added in Cyberpunk 2077’s free DLC.
The developer has packed a teaser away in the official Cyberpunk 2077 launch trailer. Check out that trailer down below. That message was subtle and hard to hear, but it’s there. And yes, it’s going to be entirely free for everyone.
The message reads, “We’ve mentioned before that expansions will be coming, and while we’re not ready to talk specifics just yet, we will say that we’ve learned a lot from our work on both Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine. Our planned expansions will take you even deeper into the world of Cyberpunk 2077, offering substantial, story-driven content that’ll give you tough choices to make through impactful narratives that you won’t soon forget.”
Going further, the developer has teased a release date, but it’s pretty unclear. According to CD PROJEKT RED, they have other plans in the works, and that will take time. The company will be patching issues and doing other work and then releasing Cyberpunk 2077’s free DLC. As they put it “before we get there, we’ll first be kicking off our free DLC program in early 2021. Just like with The Witcher 3, expect an assortment of free DLC packs to begin hitting Night City, dropping a bunch of cool stuff that’ll inject even more life into the world of the dark future.”
The content and release date of the free DLC is not currently known. We’re still about 24 hours out from launch though, so more news is on the horizon. The game will get new content in the coming months, but no one really knows when. The general consensus is that Cyberpunk 2077 will get a new pack of DLC around the time of the next-gen port being launched, which means that the game gets a new expansion around February or March in 2021.
For now, the studio is focused on fixing some bugs and major issues, including the rather controversial seizure-inducing scenes.
