World of Warcraft: Dragonflight has been announced as the next expansion to World of Warcraft. Following on the heels of Shadowlands, the story finally moves on, bringing dragons back as a major threat. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight brings a mountain of new content and refinements to the aging MMO. Despite its age, WoW remains a competitive entry into the genre. But over the years, its lack of certain QoL features and community aspects has seen it lose a ton of players to the likes of Final Fantasy 14. Activision Blizzard wants to fix that in this expansion. So, the big focus in this update will be on revitalizing areas of the game that players feel need attention.
Among the many areas of attention, there’s a literal mountain of new content. New raids and dungeons will be added, giving a new level of challenge to veteran players. The official Dragonflight site gives us a preview on what to expect from new dungeons in the Dragon Isles. According to the site, players will “fight to reclaim Neltharus, stronghold of the black dragonflight, explore previously unknown chambers of Uldaman, defend the Life Pools of the red dragonflight, and more!” The details are pretty scarce, but we can expect a lot more endgame gear to come out with this new expansion. The level cap will also increase to 70, undoing a bit of creep reset introduced with the level squish in Shadowlands.
In addition to all of that, there’s a big revamp coming that will affect all of the players in the game. Talent trees that allow players to put points into specific builds and archetypes are being added. Not only will each role within a class get a defined tree, but each overall class gets its own tree of bonuses and buffs. That’s not all either.
The crafting and profession system in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is an overhaul with more refined progression, better UI design and a new crafting orders system. This will allow players to put up orders on the market for custom items. And yes, crafting has its own set of talent trees as well.
