What are Weapon Foundries and Origin Traits in Destiny 2?

How to get Deepsight Resonance weapons in Destiny 2

Destiny 2‘s new Witch Queen expansion has changed pretty much everything about the game. There’s so much to cover, and so many questions to answer. There’s an entire arsenal of new weapons and gear to take into battle. As you explore Savathun’s new world, and uncover new foes to battle, other things may become apparent. As you unlock the ability to craft weapons, so many more things come along with it.

But first, let’s recap some other basic systems. Not only are Exotic weapons coming out in all manner of new forms, but there’s also a lot more to learn. You’ll want to make sure you purchase The Witch Queen expansion for Destiny 2. Without it, you will not be able to unlock any of this, putting a cap on your power levels in-game. But once you do, there are plenty of things to encounter and fight. One of the tools you unlock as you get through the story is called a Glaive. Then you need to consider the new Artifacts. These powerful items offer a new equipment slot to grant your Guardian even more boons in combat.

What are Weapon Foundries and Origin Traits?

On top of customizing your weapons, Bungie has also introduced Weapon Foundries and Origin Traits. These two new systems offer even more customization beyond the traditional perks.

Weapon Foundries are a new set of modifiers that come along with each weapon, based on the in-universe maker of the weapon. These have all been added as part of the World Loot drops for many activities in the game. They are: Suros, Omolon, Häkke, and Veist. Each one has its own unique perks and a ton of possible modifiers, making Guardians more lethal in combat. Here are just a few of the foundry perks you might find.

  • Suros weapons will have Suros Synergy that grants buffs after reloading.
  • Häkke weapons will have Häkke Breach Armament that grants additional damage to vehicles, turrets, barricades, and Stasis crystals.
  • Omolon weapons will have Omolon Fluid Dynamics that have a higher reload speed when you are using the first half of your magazine.
  • Veist weapons will have the Veist Stinger trait, which grants the player a chance to refill their weapon’s magazine upon dealing damage.

On top of that, Origin Traits will also offer a similar benefit to your weapons based on the activity in which they are generated. Each activity has a certain mod based on its origin. You can also use the Artifact Mods for certain Origin Traits to trigger them more often, o remake them last longer. Here are just a few of the mods you might find.

  • Alacrity – Generates from Trials of Osiris. Adds a bonus to Reload speed and stability, as well as a buff to Range. The attached stats are: +20 reload, +20 stability, +10 aim assist, +10 range.
  • Stunning Recovery – Comes from the Nightfall Strikes. Adds the ability to gain a temporary regen buff of +40, as well as a flat 60 instant health recovered.
  • One Quiet Moment – Generated during Crucible, boosting reload speed. Adds +40 to reload stat boost when out of combat, which means you haven’t dealt or received damage in four seconds.
  • Vanguard’s Vindication – An Origin Traits in Destiny 2 that comes from Strikes. Each kill with your weapon grants a small boost of +7 Health.
