What are the minimum PC requirements for Far Cry 6?

Far Cry 6 Release Date Leaked

Far Cry 6 is really popular right now. The island archipelago of Yara is huge, and really greatly detailed. With a story that’s sure to pull the heart strings as the tension increases, fans want to hop in. As such, you might want to check out PC requirements for Far Cry 6 before you buy it. The GPU crunch right now has a lot of us PC gamers on a budget. Players have to be careful about what games they buy, lest they not run on your machine. With that said, here are the system requirements for Far Cry 6. That way, you can make a more informed purchase decision.

Far Cry 6 Minimum System Requirements

The game needs a relatively modern CPU to run, at least on AMD’s side. the first-gen Ryzen is basically a new lease on life for the CPU brand. The likes of Piledriver are so archaic at this point that modern AAA games won’t even bother to run on some FX-era chips.

The GPU is pretty tame too, with a RX 460 or GTX 960 being the minimum PC requirements for Far Cry 6.

Players on these aging GPUs can get a passable experience.

  • Operating System – Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • CPU – AMD Ryzen 3 1200 at 3 Ghz or Intel Core i5-4460 at 3.1Ghz
  • RAM – 8 GB (Dual-channel Mode)
  • GPU – AMD RX 460 (4GB) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (4GB)
  • DirectX – DirectX 12
  • Hard Drive – 60GB of storage

Now let’s talk a bit about this. These system requirements are pretty tame, but don’t expect any amazing visuals. You can probably expect 1080p at low-medium settings with the rig listed above, depending on your CPU and GPU combo. The GTX 960 will likely perform much better. RAM is one of those elements that a lot of people overlook. One thing they ignore is dual-channel support. The upshot of the minutia is that two sticks of RAM run faster than one stick of the same capacity. That’s why you see dual channel in the spec sheet.

You will have to do some juggling of settings though, to get that mark. Keep in mind that lowering graphical quality can actually hurt performance in some edge cases. This is due to the GPU rendering frames faster than the CPU, so that’s a problem for some on a budget.

Far Cry 6 Recommended System Requirements

Being a pretty large game with the biggest map that the franchise has had, there’s a lot to track and render. If you want to run with targeting higher resolutions and ray-tracing, you’re going to need a much more modern CPU. The game runs at a nice even 60 with hardware that’s a couple years old or newer, provided you have enough cores and memory to go around. RAM once again should be in dual-channel, which means two sticks, with a total capacity of 16GB.

  • Operating System – Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 3600X at 3.8 Ghz or Intel Core i7-7700 at 3.6 Ghz
  • RAM – 16 GB (Dual-channel Mode)
  • GPU – AMD RX Vega 64 (8GB) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (8GB)
  • DirectX – DirectX 12
  • Hard Drive – 60 GB of storage

If you’re just getting into the game, there are lots to do. Fighting a war is tough, try upgrading your weapons if you find enemies too strong. As you’re adventuring, you might want to know how to take down bases. You can then use them to fast travel around. There are even cool animal companions like Guapo, that you can take around.
