Wasteland 3 is a new isometric RPG that continues the post-apocalyptic legacy of the classic PC gaming franchise. The newest game in the franchise has been pretty long in the tooth. Wasteland 3 has been in the works for some time, and it seems as though the game will be stuck in that state for even longer. The sequel has now been delayed.
inXile has cited the Coronavirus outbreak as the primary cause behind the delay. The developer has said that the disruption to in-person development has been pretty heavy. The studio has been trying to do their best with the situation, but they couldn’t deny the reality of the situation. The team behind Wasteland 3 wants more time to polish the game and develop its mechanics a bit more.
The sequel was originally planned to release on May 19th of this year, but that will obviously no longer be the case. Wasteland 3 has been delayed until August 28th. This should give the developers the ability to polish the game, while also preventing further spread of COVID-19 by people rushing to stores to buy Steam codes for the game. Although that last justification is pretty flimsy.
