Warframe on Nintendo Switch gets over 1 million downloads

Warframe Nintendo Switch

Digital Extremes is probably celebrating a fair bit with the launch of their flagship F2P title, Warframe, onto the Nintendo Switch console. The game came out on Switch last month in November and has already gotten a really strong early gain in player numbers.

According to an announcement from the developers, the game has managed to pass the incredible milestone of one million downloads on the platform in just the first couple months of being active. That’s pretty impressive by any measure.

Warframe was originally released in 2013 and has gone through a lot of changes since then. It’s become a dazzlingly complex array of gameplay mechanics and an orgy of loot drops, all while remaining an incredibly fun and fast-paced action game. And if you’re a fiend for cosmetic options, this game has those by the boat load. You can customize an entire stable of Frames, each with their own unique abilities and combat specializations, to an insane degree. Changing the entire look of your armor and weapons to suit your tastes is a common thing in Warframe. It also helps that the game is really beautiful, the graphics and level design are really great.

It’s no surprise that such a complex and entertaining game managed to build a following on Switch, as the portability of the console probably lured in some longtime Warframe fans too.
