Viking City Builder will support Ray Tracing & DLSS 2.0

Viking City Builder is a new RTS from Roslagen that will actually have both Ray Tracing & DLSS 2.0. Yes, you read that right. As a fantasy RTS, it’s not a decision you would think is a normal one, and you’re right. Thought it seems like the developer is prioritizing a big push for visual quality with their game. In short, the armor, weapons and locales of this game will be bloody and beautiful like you’ve never seen before.

The DLSS and Ray Tracing effects for the game are not a very common thing for RTS games, which focus on tons of units over world-building more often than not. Though it seems like this developer wants to break that mold. With a new trailer and a gaggle of new screenshots, we get to see what the effects could look like.

As expected the visual effects look incredible. Lighting and water reflections and the like are really nice in this game. The developer has released both a trailer and some screenshots showing the effects and comparing them in-game.

Check out the trailer for Viking City Builder down below. We also included the screenshots down below as well.

That’s not all we got to see about the new game and it’s pretty visuals though. The developer has also revealed that the game will have some stellar performance. As Roslagen says in the press update:

“Ray Tracing generates a much more accurate and realistic effect than traditional methods of lighting a scene in games production. It even takes the physical aspects of the world into consideration and can also simulate variety of optical effects like reflections and really helps to bring the virtual world to life and makes it more believable I think. The use of Ray Tracing unfortunately has a negative impact on performance but I have good news. The game will offer support for DLSS2. Thanks to this technique we get a huge performance jump of up to 40% with additional image quality improvement!”
