Valheim update buffs bosses, adds Vulkan API

Valheim

Iron Gate AB has released a new patch to their smash-hit Viking adventure, Valheim. Here’s what to expect from this new patch. Patch 0.146.8 for Valheim is pretty small, offering some minor adjustments and bug fixes. Here’s a rundown on what to expect.

The big news here is that three of the hardest bosses in the game have been given a boost, or a nerf, depending on the boss. Bonemass, Moder and Yagluth are all going to be a bit different to fight from now on. A bunch of other bugs have been fixed that have a lesser impact on gameplay.

The other changes come in the form of bug fixes for a variety of issues. Players abusing certain item duplication and clipping bugs will find they no longer work. Updates to the networking code and some targeted bug fixes should help with stability as well. The Vulkan API renderer, pioneered by AMD, has been implemented as well. If you’re on supported hardware, give it a whirl. The Vulkan API can offer huge performance games. Although, there’s a small problem. The option can’t just be toggled it in-game.

There’s no settings option for enabling Vulkan just yet though. Instead, players will have to add the line “-force-vulkan” as a launch option in Steam. You can right-click the game in the library window to access that option via Properties. That should be fixed in a future update, hopefully.
