Twin Mirror gets new trailer at Paris Games Week

Twin Mirror

Dontnod has released more details about their newest IP. This game marks their first major new game following work on Life is Strange 2. That game is Twin Mirror, a psychological thriller game. This game will be an episodic experience similar to that of Life is Strange.

Twin Mirror follows protagonist Sam Hayes as he deals with the fallout of increasingly strange and supernatural circumstances in his life. As Sam returns to his hometown of Basswood for the funeral of his best friend, and things get increasingly weirder from these sad realities.

Over the course of his journey Sam uncovers The Double, a personification of his alter-ego. There are some definite parallels with the like Fight Club as The Double exudes the confidence, charisma and instinctual drive that Sam himself seemingly lacks. There are also other parallels to draw in popular fiction, you should discover those by playing the game though, don’t want to spoil too much.

The game features multiple possible endings and a deep conversational system that changes depending on multiple factors. The progress in the game’s story, the state of Sam and the world around him, and especially the things Sam has uncovered about his past experiences, will affect the state of the game as a whole.

There’s a lot of dark secrets which are obscured by The Other, and mysteries hidden behind the trauma and backstabbing that surrounds Sam and those around him. Basswood hides a lot of scars, and you’re going to uncover a lot of them in Twin Mirror.

Twin Mirror will release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2019. The developers also plan to release a variety of new content and updates post-launch.
