Kalypso just released some new details on Tropico 6, the newest entry in the fascinating and hilarious city-builder series.
Tropico 6 places the player back into the shoes of El Presidente, an amalgamation of every parody of dictators throughout history, with a healthy dose of ironic sarcasm and strawmanning thrown in. Throughout the course of the game a rotating cast of satirical characters and referential events set the stage around the supposedly idyllic island nation of Tropico. There’s a lot of customization and replayability built into the experience and it’s all helped made better by the fact that Tropico 6 will be the biggest game yet in the franchise.
If all that sounds exciting to you, we’ve got some good news. The developers, Kalypso Media, have announced a bunch of new details about the game, as well as some nifty discounts.
First up is some insight into the various special editions of the game. The El Prez Edition will get you the 10% discount, instant access to the beta, and also additional in-game content which includes a tourist outfit for El Prez, a Flamingo Pond for the presidential palace, a digital soundtrack, and a digital calendar.
If you pre-order Tropico 6 through the Kalypso Store, you can get an additional 10%, with an additional 15% off for anyone who creates a new Kalypso account on the site.
The company also announced some details about what the upcoming beta release will entail. The beta is essentially a full tutorial, with access to all four areas of the game, and expansive gameplay options within those levels. There’s also a snippet of sandbox gameplay with two maps included. The game’s mission/campaign system will also be teased, with two full levels in the beta.
Tropico 6 is scheduled to release on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, and Xbox One in 2019. You can view the latest trailer for the quirky dictator-simulator down below. If you want to see more gameplay, check out a trailer from Gamescom, there’s also the original announcement trailer if you want to see that.
