Echtra Games, the studio founded by Runic Games’ founder Max Schaefer, who cut his teeth on the Diablo franchise, has announced a new game. They’ve also released a trailer for the game, but sadly no gameplay is included in the trailer.
Torchlight Frontiers has many of the previous features and mechanics over from the classic Torchlight games but this time in a shared persistent and dynamically generated world. The game will have much more similarity to games like Path of Exile than the previous entries in the series.
Torchlight Frontiers is coming to PC, Xbox One, and PS4 sometime in 2019. Check out the announcement trailer for the game down below. If you visit the official website, there is an option to sign up for an upcoming beta test. Expect more details about that beta and other aspects of the game soon. And if you’re at Gamescom or PAXWest, you will be able to find a demo on the show floor.
Evolving the Torchlight universe into a shared world has always been a goal for the franchise, and I’m excited that we’re finally able to make it a reality. Torchlight Frontiers will be a living, breathing universe that will still feel uniquely Torchlight, while we add our own creative spin to the game. The team is building something truly special, and we can’t wait for fans to play it for the first time at Gamescom and PAX West.
