The Walking Dead: The Final Season teases first 15 minutes of gameplay

The Walking Dead Telltale Final Season

Telltale had a surprise for gamers this week at San Diego Comic-Con. The gut-wrenching conclusion of the story of Clementine is coming to deliver a fresh load of feels later this year.

We saw the debut teaser yesterday, and now we get to learn more about how the world has further devolved in the fact of the undead menace. The Final Season will see Clementine much older than in the past seasons of the series, so it will be interesting to see how her experiences (so far) have turned her into a hardened survivor over the years.

Judging from this footage, it looks like the graphics have received a subtle but noticeable upgrade over previous games. Sadly, this is the last we’ll see of this comic art style, as Telltale is retiring it after this one last hurrah.

There’s a lot of other little gameplay changes we see in the footage too. From a much grimmer story and more detailed characterization, to some adjustments in-game combat and exploration, this looks like it could be the best game made with The Walking Dead series yet. Although it will need a lot of punch if it’s going to live up to that first season. That said, it does look really good as they’ve ratcheted up the desperation and tension for this game fair bit.
