The Sinking City has yet another horrifying trailer

The Sinking City

The Sinking City is as Lovecraftian as video games can get. It’s an adventure game complete with tentacled horrors, cultists and madness. It makes the town of Oakmont look like a nice vacation spot. Be sure to book a trip out there at the next sign of your newest bout of murderous insanity.

Frogwares releases a pair of new videos to hype up the game, or to scare the bejesus out of the viewer, I can’t really tell which one it is. The CG trailer the devs released shows Charles W. Reed descending deeper into some very strange and maddening environments. And even though he’s wielding a Tommy gun, you just know he’s not even remotely safe or prepared for what’s to come. Mostly because he seems to be stuck in some kind of torturous loop, like a really dark version of Groundhog Day.

The other video is a quick update from the developer about some behind-the-scenes work on the game. We get a very short teaser on the in-game visuals for lighting and weather effects. The game looks to have a day-night cycle, and the weather and lighting systems will work to reinforce the immersion of these aspects.

The Sinking City releases in March next year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out that new trailer down below. There’s also the development progress update in the dark depths below this post.
