The Division 2 teases Dark Zones in new trailer

The Division 2 Multiplayer Trailer

Ubisoft has released yet another new bit of gameplay for their upcoming action shooter, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.

The most recent trailer for The Division 2 is out, and it’s all about multiplayer, the most dangerous and fun thing you can do in this game. The Division 2 takes multiplayer in a bit of a unique direction, much like the first game, with Dark Zones and Conflicts.

Players will compete for dominance in three new Dark Zones spread across the blasted ruins of Washington D.C. and the surrounding area. Each location offers it’s own unique topography, tactical challenges and scenery. As in any competitive multiplayer shooter, map mastery is key to survival and victory. These Dark Zones are more heavily focused on immergent gameplay and player struggle than a typical multiplayer match in another shooter. Forming up with your allies and having to constantly shift position and adapt your tactics to the changing threat landscape is vital, which is where that map knowledge comes in.

Over the course of a Dark Zone run, 12 players will duke it out between PvE and PvP objectives across a wide open map. Each time you play, the goals, challenges and other aspects reset, offering unique experiences each time you play. Completing objectives like clearing Landmarks and securing supply drops rewards players with high-end loot, so it’s in your interest to do these tasks.

There will be other modes and challenges as well. Occupied Dark Zones will remove any and all safeguards and let players run wild, and the survivors will be rewarded with top-end gear. Ubisoft is also including more structured PvP modes with Conflicts, each with their own ladders and matchmaking. Domination and Skirmish modes will be added at launch.

If you want to learn more about this game, Ubisoft is already pumping the hype machine into overdrive to get you some of that content you desperately crave. The developers recently released a bunch of details showcasing the various special editions of The Division 2, and their included rewards, in a recent trailer. There’s a ton of different versions of the shooter, and there’s some pre-order bits too.
