The Call of Duty Endowment is one of the charities involved with Activision, focused on building support networks, and raising funds, for veterans and the organizations that support them. The organization has been involved in a variety of different efforts to raise funds from Call of Duty fans. One of their more common initiatives is to release branded DLC for Call of Duty games, with proceeds funding charity organizations. The group will also routinely take part in promotional events.
And the next event that Activision has announced as part of a collab between the U.S. military and popular streamers is sure to be explosively popular. Popular content creators like Summit1G and Dr. Disrespect will team up with active duty service members take part in a full eSports event. This event will be known as the first-ever CODE Bowl.
The U.S. Army Esports team will take part in the event as well, hoping to promote the U.S. military and build its online presence. As far as what streamers will be taking part, here’s a list, and it’s pretty impressive.
The streamers will be Jack “CouRageJD” Dunlop, Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm IV, Brett “Dakotaz” Hoffman, Michael “shroud” Grzesiek, David “StoneMountain64” Steinberg, Jaryd “summit1g” Lazar, Tom “Syndicate” Cassell, and Timothy “TimTheTatman” Betar.
According to Activision, “the event will feature eight teams, each captained by a popular streamer playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare along with members of the U.S. Army esports team. Each team will be competing to become the CODE Bowl Champions by earning the most points in-game. Each team will include a featured streamer and two active-duty service members from the U.S. Army Esports team.”
It will be a full scored tournament, with teams competing to become the CODE Bowl Champions. The bracket will be populated with teams that include one of the streamers, in addition to two members from the Esports team.
The event will take place on December 13th starting at 10:00 a.m. PT. The events can be viewed on the official Call of Duty Twitch channel. If you want to help support the efforts and a good cause, you can also donate here.
