The unit also features HD output at 720p and 60Hz via HDMI, 4:3 aspect ratio, with support for NTSC and PAL framerates, and a CRT filter for that classic look. The C64 Mini will also include a full version of C64 BASIC, a version of the command scripting language used by the original hardware.

You can also load your own programs, or code them yourself if you’re crazy, via this machine. And this new hardware should support many of the same commands that the original C64 did.

For those of you who want a slightly more user-friendly experience, the manufacturer will be releasing a firmware update post-launch that will add a software loader to make running programs via USB much easier. At first you’ll have to pass commands against the proper directories in order to run any programs. So if you’re looking for that totally nostalgic feel, stick with the original firmware. Although I’d imagine the software loader will be an optional feature.

We don’t know how much this will all cost, but we’ll let you know soon. Until then, check out the awesomely retro trailer for the C64 Mini down below. See the official website for more info.
