The Cayo Perico Heist is that new content update that was teased this week, sadly. The teaser from this week about a new content drop coming into GTA V via GTA Online has been confirmed for yet another Heist. Yes, Rockstar seems committed to doing the same thing as much as they can. They do bill the new content as the biggest update for the game’s online mode yet, but it remains to be seen what that actually means.
The heist mimics the setup from the later more complex quests in other updates. Players will have to spend GTA$ to hire a talented crew and fight their way through multiple setup missions before actually pulling the main job. And therein lies the problem with these missions.
Once players learn the optimum structure to run these missions for the fastest rewards, it’s just whittled down to farming the heist for the cash. The long-term feasibility of the heist model is a problem, as it seems players either complete it once or farm it to death. it remains to be seen if this turns around with the new update, but I kind of doubt it. No doubt some fans will be disappointed by this announcement. if you’re in that more casual group of players who will just play this once, I can’t see you being as excited about this as more hardcore players. Anyway, enough griping, back to the update.
Check out the trailer for Cayo Perico Heist below. The Cayo Perico Heist will release on Tuesday, 15 December 2020.
This Heist will give players the chance to play through the entire mission line with a team, or solo if they wish. The missions take folks to a secure private island that’s prime for a massive armed robbery. Players will have to contend with armed guards and a variety of armored threats on both land and sea to complete the mission they’ve been sent to do.
If you complete the heist, you’re taking your criminal endeavors to a new level. Player groups that complete the heist will have access to a new submarine base of all things as a new hideout. This will not only be the biggest heist but likely the most expensive—in terms of in-game money—reward ever added to the game.
The Cayo Perico Heist will also debut some new vehicles and tactical weapons, new social spaces and more. The new clubs and radio stations, with more than 100 new songs contained within, will help sell the new tropical setting. Expect a lot of spicy influences here themed very heavily after the Caribbean.
