Teamfight Tactics patch 9.22 changes items and maps

Teamfight Tactics - Best Items and Combinations Guide

Teamfight Tactics, the offshoot from Riot Games’ League of Legends, is gaining steam toward a full standalone release. Styled as an auto-battler game mode for the MOBA title, the game has grown massively in popularity since it debuted. The game is now a full-blown phenomenon, with streamers and community members flocking to every piece of content and news they can find to consume more and more of the latest craze in gaming. And now, a new patch is due to shake up the game, sending the community into a frenzy.

The upcoming Rise of the Elements update is foremost in the brains of the developers at this moment. And because of this update, there’s a whole bucket list of changes that need to be in the mobile title beforehand to make the new season of content viable and fun to play. As such, Riot is packing a ton of the groundwork for this content into the latest series of patches.

A bunch of major gameplay changes are first up on the docket for things the 9.22 patch has worked into the new version of the MOBA offshoot. The biggest and most impactful change is that the map size has been expanded by a full row of hexes, giving seven more spots on the board to battle over. This change, when combined with other adjustments to be discussed later, will cause a huge shift in how the game is played. Player damage ramping is also being adjusted so that the slog of mid-game is a little more speedy. Another adjustment to summoned units, so that they have to survive for 1 turn to apply their full effects, should put a stop to some very gimmicky tactics.

Some other gameplay adjustments in patch 9.22 include the temporary removal of ranked play, with a plan to cycle it back in next patch. The champion pool has been reduced in size at all levels, which should create situations where players can get desirable units out a little more quickly. Mana generation has also been adjusted to make ramping and curves a bit easier to manage.

General Game Changes

We made a few systemic changes in preparation for Rise of the Elements. The board size change will allow for additional options and decisions to make the optimal formation for any given situation. Many of the other changes account for the champions and synergies in the new set.

Ranked Changes

New season, new rules.

Champion Pool Changes

We’re decreasing the number of each champion in the pool. It will be much more difficult for multiple players to build similar teams. Keep an eye on what your opponents are building and find the open synergies for maximum success.
