There’s a lot of very weird games on itch.io. Being an indie-focused platform, a lot of creators upload their passion projects, test games and plenty of strange things. Tales of Androgyny is definitely in that last category. This particular game is a very adult-oriented release, and the themes are quite bizarre.
Without delving into the potentially offensive nature, it’s a game for the more adventurous among you. The developer describes it as “a stance-based RPG with rogue-lite elements.” Since it’s an RPG-lite game, there’s a lot of skill checks and random events to overcome. There are both good and bad states that can happen from each check, so those wishing to explore the full game will want to avoid using Tales of Androgyny cheats. But if you want to get the best ending, you can certainly tilt things in your favor. The easiest way to do that is by editing your save file.
There is also a cheat mode found in the options of the game’s files. That can be toggled in the game’s settings, but the downside is you have to be using the paid version of the game for it to work properly. There is one other option to cheat in the game.
Anyway, let’s assume you’re using the free version and want to edit your save.
Create a character and get through the first battle, then save the game, this will spawn a save game. You need to navigate to “{yourusername}\AppData\Roaming\TalesOfAndrogyny” to find the save games.
Since you saved the game in the first save slot, the save you want to open should be save0.json.
Use an app like Notepad++ to easily edit the stats on your character. If you’re more advanced, you can also add skills and perks to your character. You will know you found the right folder when you see the following listings for values:
- Money
- Strength
- Endurance
- Agility
- Perception
- Magic
- Charisma
- Willpower
You can edit the above stats to give yourself bonus stats. This will make passing skill checks so much easier.
