System Shock 3 has a new trailer at GDC 2019

System Shock Remake

Warren Spector and OtherSide Entertainment have been quietly working on the next iteration of the distinguished sci-fi franchise that is System Shock, and now, we’ve finally seen more of the game in action. And so many fans of the famous franchise have been eagerly awaiting more news about the game since it’s first reveal since 2015 when it was originally announced.

System Shock 3 is still very much a mystery despite this short teaser though, even though we can gather a few possible details. We do get to glimpse a few important details, like a possible setting. The teaser shows a desiccated ruin of a space station, prowled by hordes of murderous robots and psycho mutants. And of course, it wouldn’t be System Shock if we didn’t see the return of an old “friend” SHODAN, the insane AI.

It will be very interesting to see how Spector and the rest of the team handle this titanically vital title. Although I wouldn’t be too worried due to the excellent pedigree many on this new title have. Spector was producer, designer and director of the original System Shock, as well as Deus Ex after all.

And even though some financial troubles with former publisher Starbreeze saw the rights to the game in limbo, they’re now safely back with OtherSide, meaning the game is back on track for it’s eventual release. And according to the statements we know as of now, the game is a little more than half finished, whatever that actually means.
