Switch port of Okami finally has a release date

Okami for Nintendo Switch Arrives August 9

Capcom has announced that the Nintendo Switch version of classic action role-playing game Okami will launch on August 9. Check out the announcement trailer below if you want to get a peek at the game before you buy it.

Okami has been around since 2006, back in the PS2 days. Though the original team has moved on to other things, the game is still a solid and enjoyable experience. That original team was Clover Studio, a game developer that featured legendary names such as Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya and Resident Evil mastermind Shinji Mikami. Clover Studio worked on the Viewtiful Joe franchise and God Hand, as well as Okami, before being closed in 2007.

Capcom has re-released Okami numerous times over the years, most recently in high-definition for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in December 2017. If you somehow have avoided playing the game until now, and you own a Switch, it’s the perfect time to jump in on this timeless classic.

The latest iteration for the Switch includes classed-up visuals and some redone control schemes to accommodate the new hardware. But beyond that, it’s still the same old Okami we know and love.
