Swery’s RPG “The Good Life” hits funding goal, gets new story trailer

The Good Life RPG

Hidetaka ‘Swery’ Suehiro, Grounding, and White Owls, have been working towards releasing a new and unique RPG that focuses on the struggle to repay debt. As any fan of Swery would expect, things are never that simple, and The Good Life is, for lack of a better word, nuts.

Suehiro, also known as Swery65, has a bit of a reputation for creating a bunch of borderline classic B-tier games including Metal Gear-alike Spy Fiction, the cooky D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, and the infamous Deadly Premonition. All of these games are absurd and charming in their own way, and we’d expect nothing less from The Good Life.

The Good Life is still looking for funding on Kickstarter. If you’re looking to back the game, head on over to their Kickstarter campaign. A release for The Good Life is planned for Windows PC and PlayStation 4.

To celebrate the closing of funding, the team has released a new story trailer that gives a bit more depth on the setting and the gameplay. Judging from the trailer, there are some bizarre subplots about animal transformation, and someone who really doesn’t like sheep. Whatever this game turns out to be, it looks like a blast.

If funding hits higher levels, more platforms are planned. Although with only a few hours to go as of writing and with funding at ~$731,000, a Switch version looks unlikely. That port was planned as a stretch goal for $800,000. Whatever, the final funding tally, fans of Swery65 will be waiting until next year to see the final results of development on The Good Life.
