Nintendo has revealed the 2.0 patch for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The latest patch for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, v2.0.0, is now live for Switch owners and most notably brings Piranha Plant into the game as a playable fighter, after previously being confirmed last year. Players will be able to grab the Prianha Plant DLC content for their account until January 31st. Anyone who links their My Nintendo with their Smash profile will be able to redeem the fighter for free. If you miss the deadline, Nintendo has pledged to offer the addon as paid content at a later date.
In addition, the patch also introduces support for up to four players within Spirit Boards. Players can add additional players by selecting Party, Fighter, and then choosing the number of people who want to play. There are other Spirit changes too, such as a cadre of new Spirits like Pikachu and Eevee.
And of course, there’s a whole bunch of changes to various moves, mechanics and animations for various fighters in the game. It’s a really extensive list and covers a wide array of characters, so you’re advised to check out the full list of changes. The full patch notes for balance adjustments in Smash 2.0 can be found here.
This is just the beginning for the massively successful Switch fighting game. I can’t wait to see what else Nintendo has planned. Also, I’d be willing to bet those who buy into the Fighter Pass are eager to see what else their purchase nets them.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
